Tuberculosis (TB) PCR diagnosis and drug resistance testing through a specialized fully automated system (GENEXPERT MTB/RIF Assay)

Genexpert has revolutionized the diagnosis and drug resistance testing for Tuberculosis (TB). This is a molecular test used to detect DNA of TB bacteria. It is a highly sensitive and precise test recommended by World Health Organization (WHO). This test is regarded as a major milestone in the diagnosis and treatment of TB patients. System is fully automated and test results are available within 2-3 hours. The test is performed daily from Monday to Saturday; however samples are received round the clock including Sunday.

Samples: Sputum

Tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis through Real Time PCR TB DNA

Diagnosis of TB through real Time PCR is a highly reliable and specific test.  It can detect TB bacteria from sputum, body fluids, blood, and body tissues present even in a very low quantity. A positive test means TB bacteria are present in sample. TB testing through PCR for DNA of TB bacteria is highly reliable, cost effective and time sparing. The test is performed daily from Monday to Saturday; however samples are received round the clock including Sunday.

Samples: Sputum, blood, pleural fluid, peritoneal fluid, joint fluid, pericardial fluid, any tissue

Hepatitis C PCR Qualitative (Qualitative Hepatitis C RNA testing)

Hepatitis C PCR testing through viral RNA detection is one of the most sensitive and reliable test for detection of active infection by Hepatitis C. It is recommended for the diagnosis of hepatitis C in people with reactive hepatitis C screening (Anti HCV test). It is also used to diagnose early infection of hepatitis C even before the hepatitis C screening is positive for example in people with raised liver enzymes but negative for hepatitis C screening test. The test is performed daily from Monday to Saturday; however samples are received round the clock including Sunday

Sample: Blood 2-3 milliliters (small amount)

Hepatitis C PCR Quantitative (Quantitative Hepatitis C RNA testing)

Hepatitis C Qualitative test is performed to monitor the treatment of active hepatitis C infection. Viral load at the start of treatment is measured. It is again measured 3 months after starting the treatment. Disappearance of virus from blood or a ten times decrease in viral load is suggestive of effective treatment. The testing system is extremely sensitive and reliable. It can detect very low number of hepatitis C viral copies from blood. The test is performed daily from Monday to Saturday; however samples are received round the clock including Sunday

Sample: Blood 2-3 milliliters (small amount)

Hepatitis C PCR for Genotyping

Genome of Hepatitis C virus may differ from virus to virus. This difference is small enough to group these viruses as hepatitis C, each group differs in response to available drug therapy. Commonly Hepatitis C virus is grouped into 5 different genotype groups. The genotype 1-3 is most common. Genotype 1 is regarded as more aggressive and resistant to anti viral treatment as compared to genotype 2 and 3. Genotyping is performed to forecast the response to treatment. The test is performed daily from Monday to Saturday; however samples are received round the clock including Sunday

Sample: Blood 2-3 milliliters (small amount)

Hepatitis B PCR Qualitative (Qualitative Hepatitis B DNA testing)

Qualitative Hepatitis B DNA PCR detects active hepatitis B viral infection. It is highly sensitive and reliable. Test can detect even very low number of viral copies in blood. This test is used to confirm the presence of virus in case if hepatitis B screening test (HBsAg test) is reactive. It can also be used to detect active hepatitis B virus even if screening test is non reactive and there is a suspicion of hepatitis B infection as in case if liver enzymes are raised without any other obvious reason. The test is performed daily from Monday to Saturday; however samples are received round the clock including Sunday

Sample: Blood 2-3 milliliters (small amount)

Hepatitis B PCR Quantitative (Quantitative Hepatitis B DNA testing)

Quantitative Hepatitis B DNA PCR is performed to monitor hepatitis B treatment. The test is used to measure initial viral load before starting the treatment and periodically during the treatment to measure effectiveness of treatment. A considerable decline or disappearance of virus from blood is suggestive of effective treatment. The test is performed daily from Monday to Saturday; however samples are received round the clock including Sunday

Sample: Blood 2-3 milliliters (small amount)
