Kulsum International Hospital

Gastroenterology

Diagnosis and treatment of digestive system disorders.

About Gastroenterology

The gastroenterology team assesses digestive and liver disorders, including conditions of the oesophagus, stomach, bowel, pancreas and gallbladder.

Endoscopic investigations

Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy examines the upper digestive tract. Colonoscopy evaluates the large bowel, while sigmoidoscopy examines its lower section.

ERCP combines endoscopy with X-ray imaging to investigate and treat selected problems affecting the bile ducts and pancreas.

Supporting diagnostics

Imaging includes ultrasound, CT and MRI. Laboratory investigations include stool cultures, tests for hidden blood in stool, Helicobacter pylori testing and measurement of serum amylase.
