- Eye pain or a gritty feeling
- Redness and watering
- Sensitivity to light
- Seeing halos around lights
Causes and risk factors
Causes include infections, injuries, dry eye, allergies, inherited corneal dystrophies, keratoconus and contact lens misuse.
Diagnosis
An eye specialist examines the cornea using a slit lamp microscope and other specialised tests.
Treatment
Treatment depends on the cause and may include eye drops, special contact lenses, laser treatment or a corneal transplant.
