Symptoms

Causes and risk factors
The exact cause is unknown. A family history increases the risk.
Diagnosis
Diagnosis is based on symptoms, examination and ultrasound or MRI. Laparoscopy can confirm it.
Treatment
Treatment includes painkillers, hormonal medicines and keyhole surgery to remove endometriosis. Fertility treatment may be needed for some women.
