Symptoms
- Painful, swollen joints
- Stiffness, especially in the morning
- Swollen fingers or toes
- Pain where tendons attach to bone, such as the heel
- Nail changes
- Back pain
Causes and risk factors
It is linked to psoriasis and family history.
Diagnosis
Diagnosis is based on examination, blood tests to rule out other types of arthritis and X-rays or ultrasound.
Treatment
Treatment includes anti-inflammatory medicines, disease-modifying drugs, biologic medicines and physiotherapy.
