Causes and risk factors

Risk factors include nephrotic syndrome, dehydration, heart rhythm problems, atherosclerosis, injury, blood clotting disorders and kidney transplant.

Diagnosis

Diagnosis uses Doppler ultrasound, CT or MR angiography and blood tests.

Treatment

Treatment includes blood-thinning medicines, clot-dissolving treatment, procedures to restore blood flow and treating the underlying cause.
