Causes and risk factors
Risk factors include severe short-sightedness, previous eye surgery or injury, family history and age-related changes in the eye.
Diagnosis
An eye specialist examines the retina after dilating the pupils.
Treatment
Treatment includes laser or freezing for tears and surgery to reattach the retina.
