Overview
Diabetes can damage nerves and blood vessels in the feet, so injuries may go unnoticed and heal poorly. Foot ulcers and infections are a leading cause of amputation, yet most can be prevented with good foot care and early treatment.

- People with diabetes who have numb feet or poor circulation
- People with a foot ulcer, wound or infection
- People with corns, calluses or deformities
- People who have had a previous ulcer or amputation
What the service includes
Foot examination and risk assessment, wound care and dressings, treatment of infection, offloading footwear, checks of blood flow, surgery when needed and education on daily foot care.
What to expect
Your feet will be checked for feeling, circulation and skin problems. Ulcers are reviewed regularly until healed. Good blood sugar control is essential.
