Overview
Fetal medicine uses detailed ultrasound and other tests to check the baby's growth, development and wellbeing. It helps families understand any concerns and plan care before and after birth.
Who it may help
- Pregnancies with an abnormal routine scan or screening result
- Babies who are not growing well
- Twin and multiple pregnancies
- Mothers with medical conditions or previous pregnancy complications
What the service includes
Detailed anomaly scans, growth and Doppler scans, screening and diagnostic tests such as amniocentesis, counselling and planning with neonatal and paediatric teams.
What to expect
You will have time to discuss scan findings and options. Follow-up scans may be arranged, and a birth plan is made with your obstetrician.
