Overview

Foot and ankle problems can make walking painful. Many improve with footwear, physiotherapy and injections, while others need surgery.

Why it is done

  • Flat feet and clubfoot

Treatment options

Options include shoe changes, insoles, physiotherapy, injections, fracture fixation, tendon repair, joint fusion and deformity correction.

After the surgery

You may need a cast or boot and crutches for several weeks. Physiotherapy helps restore strength and movement.

Risks

Risks include infection, wound problems, nerve injury, blood clots and stiffness.
