Overview

A dietitian assesses your eating habits, health conditions and goals, and creates a practical plan that fits your lifestyle, culture and budget. Nutrition counselling can help prevent and manage many long-term conditions.

Who it may help

  • People who want to manage their weight
  • People with diabetes, high cholesterol or high blood pressure
  • People with kidney, liver or heart conditions
  • People with bone-health or rheumatic conditions
  • Athletes and people with disordered eating

What to expect

Your first appointment includes questions about your diet, activity, medical history and medicines, and sometimes body measurements. You will agree realistic goals, with follow-up visits to review your progress.

How to prepare

Bring a list of your medicines, recent test results and, if possible, a record of what you eat for a few days.

At KIH

KIH's dietitians provide nutrition assessment during a hospital stay and after discharge. Individual outpatient nutrition counselling can be arranged without a physician referral.
