Overview
Brain and spinal cord tumours are among the most common cancers in children. Treatment is planned by a team including neurosurgeons, oncologists, radiation specialists and rehabilitation therapists.
Who it may help
- Children with headaches and vomiting, especially in the morning
- Children with balance problems, seizures or vision changes
- Children diagnosed with a brain or spinal tumour
Treatment options
Treatment may include surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, along with medicines for seizures and swelling. Rehabilitation and school support help recovery.
What to expect
Diagnosis uses MRI and often surgery or biopsy. The team explains the plan and supports the family throughout. Long-term follow-up checks growth, learning and hormones.
At KIH
KIH's neurosurgery and oncology teams can assess children with brain and spinal tumours and arrange specialised treatment when needed.
