Overview

Paediatric occupational therapists help children build fine motor, sensory, self-care and play skills. Therapy is tailored to each child's needs and goals.

Who it may help

  • Children with developmental delay or coordination difficulties
  • Children with cerebral palsy or other physical disabilities
  • Children with autism or sensory processing difficulties
  • Children with handwriting or attention difficulties

What the service includes

Assessment of skills, play-based therapy, sensory strategies, handwriting and self-care training, equipment advice and home and school programmes.

What to expect

Sessions are usually weekly. Parents learn activities to practise at home, which is important for progress.
