Overview

Good vision is essential for a child's learning and development. Many childhood eye problems respond best to early treatment while the visual system is still developing.

Who it may help

  • Children with a squint or turned eye
  • Children with a lazy eye
  • Children who need glasses
  • Babies with cloudy eyes, watering eyes or poor visual response
  • Premature babies needing eye screening

What the service includes

Vision and eye examinations adapted for children, glasses, patching, eye drops and surgery for squint, cataract and other conditions.

What to expect

Eye drops may be used to widen the pupils. Treatment for lazy eye often takes months and needs consistent effort at home.
