Overview

Children's bones are still growing, so their injuries and conditions need specialised care. Many conditions are treated without surgery, especially when found early.

Who it may help

  • Babies with clubfoot or hip problems
  • Children with fractures
  • Children with curved spines, limb differences or uneven leg length
  • Children with limping or bone and joint pain

Treatment options

Options include gentle casting for clubfoot (Ponseti method), harnesses for hip dysplasia, bracing for scoliosis, physiotherapy, fracture treatment and surgery to correct deformities or uneven leg length.

What to expect

X-rays and other scans may be used. Because children keep growing, many conditions need follow-up until growth is complete to make sure the result lasts.
