Overview
Most skin cancers are cured when found and treated early. Treatment depends on the type, size and location of the cancer.
Who it may help
- People with a new or changing mole
- People with a sore or lump that does not heal
- People diagnosed with skin cancer
- People at high risk, such as those with many moles or past skin cancer
Treatment options
Options include surgical removal with a margin of healthy skin, skin grafts or flaps for reconstruction, freezing or creams for early lesions, radiotherapy and, for advanced melanoma, immunotherapy and targeted therapy.
What to expect
A biopsy confirms the diagnosis. Follow-up skin checks look for new or returning cancers.
