Overview

Speech and language therapists help children who have difficulty speaking clearly, understanding language, using words to communicate or swallowing safely.

Who it may help

  • Children who are late to talk
  • Children with unclear speech or stuttering
  • Children with hearing loss or cleft palate
  • Children with autism or developmental delay
  • Children with feeding or swallowing difficulties

What the service includes

Assessment of speech, language and swallowing, play-based therapy, parent coaching and home programmes.

What to expect

Sessions are usually weekly. Practising at home every day makes a big difference to progress.
