Overview
In a stroke, every minute counts. Fast treatment can restore blood flow to the brain, limit damage and improve recovery.
Who it may help
- People with sudden face drooping, arm weakness or speech difficulty
- People with sudden vision loss, dizziness or severe headache
- People recovering after a stroke
Treatment options
Treatment may include clot-dissolving medicine (thrombolysis), clot removal (thrombectomy), management of bleeding strokes, care in a stroke unit and early rehabilitation.
What to expect
A brain scan is done urgently. After the acute phase, physiotherapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy help recovery.
