Overview
TB is curable with the right medicines taken every day for the full course. Stopping early can lead to drug-resistant TB.
Who it may help
- People with a cough for more than two weeks, fever, night sweats or weight loss
- People diagnosed with lung or other types of TB
- Family members and close contacts of people with TB
- People with suspected drug-resistant TB
What the service includes
Sputum tests including GeneXpert, chest X-rays, a full course of TB medicines, monitoring for side effects, contact screening and support to complete treatment.
What to expect
Treatment usually lasts at least six months. Regular follow-up checks progress. Cover your mouth when coughing and keep rooms well ventilated.
