Overview

Who it may help

  • Children with large or growing birthmarks
  • People with soft, bluish swellings that enlarge with straining
  • People with pain or bleeding from a malformation

Treatment options

Options include monitoring, compression, medicines such as propranolol for haemangiomas, sclerotherapy, embolisation, laser and surgery.

What to expect

Ultrasound or MRI helps identify the type of malformation. Treatment may need several sessions.
